Driverless Vans and AI Lines Reset the Commercial Vehicle Axle

Oct 14,2026

China's axle industry is being pulled two ways in October 2026: autonomous logistics vehicles are tightening backlash and fatigue requirements, while mid-sized makers use AI inspection to win orders they could not bid for two years ago. For buyers of the commercial vehicle axle, the differentiator is no longer the catalog rating but the documented process behind every drive axle.

Autonomous vehicles tighten the spec
Hebei Xingrun Automotive Chassis System Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in Baoding has three assembly lines booked with new-energy orders to the end of 2026, much of it for autonomous logistics vehicles. Research head Chen Xizeng says more frequent braking and higher shock loads raise the bar for axle precision and front axle durability.

From 0.35 mm to 0.25 mm
Xingrun spent over RMB 30 million in 2024 on a digital plant built on an MES backbone with AI visual inspection; the lines went live in early 2026. AI checks press-fit pressure curves against the standard and corrects deviations of just 0.1 mm. For autonomous duty, engineers cut planetary-to-side-gear backlash from 0.35 mm to 0.25 mm, and that operation's defect rate fell about 90 percent.

Every axle leaves with a digital ID
Two NVH silent rooms flank the line; each drive axle is tested before release and its vibration and noise curves stored in MES, cutting traceability from four hours to ten minutes. Chery cleared the plant on that NVH data in 2025, and the Chery KP1 volume order landed in early 2026. Networked equipment rose from 65 to 85 percent, the defect rate fell 50 percent, and in June 2026 Hebei province named it an advanced-level smart factory.

Scale must be proven on the road
Factory data only counts if the product survives real mileage. Fangde.com reported on 12 October 2026 that integrated e-axles from Zero One Auto have passed 100 million kilometres of real operation, lifting vehicle filings using its e-axles by 50 percent. Its four-in-one unit integrates motor, gearbox, drive axle and power take-off, cutting vehicle mass by over 200 kg.

The takeaway
For Zhucheng Yihe Axle Co., Ltd., two rules follow: publish process capability - backlash, torque curves, NVH reports - not just rated load, and treat each new duty cycle as a distinct commercial vehicle axle specification. In 2026 that axle sells on documented process proved over 100 million kilometres, not on rated load alone.
