ZHUCHENG, China, October 9, 2026 — The commercial vehicle axle is no longer a cost line buried inside a truck. On October 8, 2026 Sinotruk told investors that its axle unit Jinan Axle lifted sales sharply year on year with much higher profit, while exports passed half of group truck sales across 150-plus countries.
Sinotruk puts a number on its axle business. In an investor relations record dated October 8, Sinotruk (SZSE: 000951) said Jinan Axle supplies front axles, drive axles and other axle products to group makers. Volume rose sharply in 2026 and profit improved markedly; Jinan Axle cleared high-tech enterprise certification at end-2025 and holds a preferential tax rate for 2025-2027.
New energy supplies the axle volume. Sinotruk cited about 926,000 heavy trucks sold in January-September 2026, up about 13%. The faster line is electric: nearly 200,000 new-energy heavy trucks in January-August, up 70%, including 26,800 in August, up 51%. Each takes a drive axle or an e-axle, and most still take a front axle.
The export map is being redrawn. First Commercial Vehicle Network reported on October 8 that September heavy truck exports rose about 21% year on year, led by Africa, Latin America and Central Asia. First-half customs data put exports to Africa at 95,000 units (+75.0%), Southeast Asia 50,000 (+32.9%) and Latin America 17,000 (+69.5%), over 80% of the total.
Duty cycle, not tonnage, now sets the axle spec. Mine roads and overload in Africa, heat and long grades in Latin America, and thin service networks push demand toward reinforced cast beam front axles, wider brake shoes, long oil-change drive axles and locally repairable wheel ends. Zhucheng Yihe Axle Co., Ltd. ships one tractor platform with different front axle and drive axle configurations depending on where it works.
Margin follows scale and service. Certification, local parts stocks and service radius now decide whether an axle programme earns a return; a commercial vehicle axle unit must spread tooling cost over volume and support e-axle and conventional lines at once.
The takeaway: in 2026 the commercial vehicle axle business earns its margin from which regions and duty cycles it can serve, with a front axle, a drive axle or an e-axle that fits, not from how many trucks China sells.
