New-energy models took 54.9% of all logistics vehicles sold in China in September 2026, up from 49.2% in August, says EV Partner. The growth axis of the commercial vehicle axle has moved from 49-tonne tractors to the 3.5-6 tonne light truck, where front axle ratings and integrated e-axles decide the order.
September: light-truck NEV penetration hits a record
First Commercial Vehicle Network counted 26,400 new-energy light trucks sold in September 2026, up 59% year on year and 36% over August - a monthly record. Penetration reached 44.35%, against 37.84% in August; January-September volume was 164,000 units, up 35%. Total light-truck sales fell 3% to 59,500, a third straight annual decline.
Why the front axle becomes the specification
In the 4.5-tonne class the pack sits between the frame rails and redistributes sprung mass, so ratings move with it. Geely Farizon's H8E (JGL1047BEVGR10) lists a 1,900 kg front axle and a 6-tonne rear axle at 2,595 kg with 120 kWh from CATL. Qingling Isuzu's EVM2026 lists a 1,805 kg front axle and a 2,690 kg rear e-axle with 140 kWh. A 1.8-1.9 tonne front axle is becoming the class default.
Heavy-duty chassis know-how moves downmarket
NAVECO launched the LingSheng V100 in Nanjing on 12 October at 127,800 yuan: SAIC Maxus supplies the drivetrain, Iveco the heavy-duty chassis, with 150 kW, 380 Nm, 36% full-load gradeability and a 5- or 6-leaf spring pack rare in this class. A 2.1-tonne loader drove out of the cargo bed at the launch with no rear sag. Leaf count is an axle decision.
What suppliers should build for 2027
So the segment needs its own product list: lighter axle housings, low-friction bearings, maintenance-free wheel ends, and compact e-axles that leave room for the pack between the rails. EV Partner's split shows where volume lands next - micro vans 58.6% and light trucks 51.8% are past halfway; micro trucks 16.8% and medium trucks 13.1% are still early.

For Zhucheng Yihe Axle, front axles, drive axles and assemblies for the light and medium range must be engineered around electric packaging from the start, not adapted from a diesel platform afterwards.
