HANNOVER / ZHUCHENG, September 22, 2026 — Electric drive axles took centre stage at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 in Hannover (September 14–20), where 1,589 exhibitors from 46 countries made it the most international edition yet and Chinese suppliers led the technology race.
Efficiency broke the 94% barrier. FAW Jiefang's twin-motor e-axle on an 800V platform reached 94.5% peak transmission efficiency; SINOTRUK's heavy-truck e-axle delivers 470 kW and 44,000 N·m at up to 94.44%; HanDe Axle's HDE13t dual-motor unit reaches 59,300 N·m; Foton's integrated heavy e-axle runs at 93.8% with a 1.6-million-km design life. Bosch's rigid eAxle cuts up to 20% of driveline weight, and ZF confirmed AxTrax 2 volume production in China.
Demand follows. CAAM reports August commercial vehicle sales of 328,000 units, up 3.8% year on year, with exports up 53.3%. Every exported truck, bus and van carries front axles, drive axles or e-axles, pulling Chinese axle makers into overseas fleets.
